I have read 100% of this book
Verdict: Enjoyed it! (4 of 5 stars)
I'm normally not much for contemporary women's fiction, but I liked this for the mystery and suspense aspects. Unfortunately, the setup for this book was quite cliched, with main character Naomi returning to her small PNW town for a visit. I had a hard time really getting behind Naomi. She and pretty much all of the other characters were kind of one-dimensional. Naomi is the jaded loner who uses sex as an emotional painkiller and grew up with her single alcoholic father and pitied town drunk. Cass is the busybody who never left and the daughter of the family that runs the town. Olivia is the mentally ill depressed pixie dreamgirl with the environmentalist-hippie parents. The male characters also lacked any kind of dimension (note: a complete personality 180 does not count as dimension), except for the podcaster, who was possibly the most fleshed-out character in the entire book. The twists at the end were definitely worth the quick and easy read, though.
