I think that I’d never understood a bed until meeting you. Not properly. All of the things a bed allows to happen. It was the smallest things that made me feel the most. Watching you drop something on the floor and not be able to pick it up. A tiny scar across your collarbone, only in some lights. Your back. You bending over. The two of us like snakes on the bed.

It feels strange to think of now, the madness of fucking. The things you end up saying. The softness afterwards, just as hard in the opposite direction. Tangles you can’t find your way into otherwise.

I remember the other albums we played. Steely Dan, Talking Heads. Everything older than us, like knowing time had existed before was proof that it would be there ahead of us too.
