I have read 100% of this book

Verdict: Not for me (2 of 5 stars)

Just "completed" (if you've read it, you'll see what I did there heh heh) and need to let it marinate for a bit. The concept and underlying questions it brought up are definitely compelling, but the execution overall was too mechanical (maybe the subtlety is lost on me?)

The characters each fall somewhere on a spectrum between flat and super quietly and just barely fleshed out, but the interactions are interesting enough that I'll definitely see the film version. I honestly think this story might be better told via that medium. I kept looking for sentences and passages profound and poetic enough to really get to the feels of what these lives were about, but nothing really stood out for me. Maybe seeing actors portraying it with awkward silences and facial expressions will deliver what I was wanting from this book.
